Fun Camp 2022

Our wildly popular summer theatre camp: FUNCamp 2022 is back and better than ever! As an MD State Licensed Youth Day Camp (license # 10-YC-13282), the safety of our FUNCampers, staff, and artists is of the utmost importance to us!

– All of our Teaching Artists are fingerprinted and background checked; and have received training and certification in First Aid/CPR, threat/violence aversion, and other best practices education in working with under-age children;
– MET’s FUNCamp follows all licensing requirements related to COVID-19;
– Our facilities are climate-controlled and routinely inspected by the City and State to ensure safety for our FUNCampers;
– MET’s FUNCamp maintains an at-least one trained adult to every ten FUNCampers ratio;
– A registered nurse is on duty all summer long;
– Our staff practices both preventative and supportive discipline techniques;
– We proudly offer a robust and regionally-acclaimed theater arts curriculum; and
– Provide a no-pressure, enlightening, and stimulating performing arts summer experience for our FUNCampers!

Points of Note:

  • All sessions are one week long, unless otherwise noted.
  • To provide a safe environment for all, summer registrations will be limited to 18 FUNCampers per session.
  • MET’s mainstage theater is undergoing renovation during the summer of 2022, and where noted in the descriptions, FUNCamp  and final sharings will be held next door to MET in the New Spire Arts Building.
  • Once registration is open, you are encouraged to sign up early to secure your spot!
  • As guidelines continue to change, additional camps may be added! Please note that our plans are subject to change (even daily) as our current climate adapts and responds.
  • A $20 discount is offered for second FUNCamp or sibling registrations!

After the most recent local guideline adjustments,  masks will be optional in FUNCamp and used at your discretion for the safety and comfort of our FUNCampers and staff. 


Session I: June 13-June 17

The Greatest Showman (Ages 10 – 15) 10am-3pm · $225

Work on becoming anything from a Ringmaster to a Clown as we workshop techniques for physical comedy, juggling, flow arts, dance, and more. FUNCAmpers will learn how to connect with the audience using their imagination to create their own circus inspired acts. This camp is for any skill level or personality as a we encourage discovering and expansion on what makes each student unique. A final show will be performed for family and friends at the end of the week.


Session II: June 20-June 24

Creating Theatre (Ages 7 – 11) 10am-3pm · $225

You become actor, set, costume, lighting, sound, and prop designer. Each day will focus on a different area of theatrical design, as well as different acting, movement and voice techniques. Working with theatre professionals, students will explore creative expression as they bring a play to life. Students rehearse for a final show to be performed for family and friends at the end of the week.

Musical Theatre (Ages 12 – 16)  10am-3pm · $225 

Work on becoming a triple threat by combining acting, singing, and dancing. FUNCampers will be led in a morning workout then move through their day working on scenes, songs, and dances from some of Broadway’s greatest treasures. A short musical theatre piece will be performed for family and friends at the end of the week.

Session III: June 27-July 1

Musical Theatre (Ages 7 – 11) 10am-3pm · $225

Work on becoming a triple threat by combining acting, singing, and dancing. FUNCampers will be led in a morning workout then move through their day working on scenes, songs, and dances from some of Broadway’s greatest treasures. A short musical theatre piece will be performed for family and friends at the end of the week.

Performance Project (Ages 12 – 16) 10am-3pm · $225 

FUNCampers will create an original theatre piece utilizing ensemble-based exercises, principles that are the core of MET. This is a chance to use their own voices to really shape the future of theatre. Become writer, director, performer, and artist while building a show from the ground up to be performed for family and friends at the end of the week.

Session IV: July 5-July 8 

Tiny Stages (Ages 5 – 6) 9am-noon · $180 (Please note this a 4-day camp. There is no camp on Monday July 4)

Do you love fairy tales? Pirates? Farm animals? Castles? Bring your favorite stories to life. Through imaginative play, movement, music and craft activities our young FUNcampers will envision and realize a new world and present a short sharing of their journeys for families and friends at the end of each of the four camp days.


Session V: July 11-15

Music Video Magic (Ages 10-13) 10am-3pm · $250

FUNCampers will be challenged to create a video concept for a song, and then be guided to storyboard, shoot, edit and star in their own music video. This fun fast paced camp will bring out the director and performer in your young creative child. Videos will be shown at a screening for family and friends at the end of the week.

Session VI: July 18-22

Improv/Comedy Jam (Ages 12 – 16) 10am-3pm · $225

Class clowns and wallflowers alike are all welcome! Basic improv exercises, stand-up comedy techniques, and comedy scene work are all fused to help FUNCampers learn how to write, create and perform an original student-crafted comedy improv show, all while building confidence and honing public speaking skills. A final Improv Jam will be performed for family and friends at the end of the week.
